So, over the last few days, I’ve done some code hacking on the generators. They now support multiple images in a sprite, and have been streamlined a bit more. Unfortunately, this broke a few images. I’ve fixed the ones I can. Also, I’ve been adding more sprites for both generators. The new multi-image system makes things like tanks with adjustable turrets possible, but it’s a ton more work to build those sprites. Oh well.
Something that’s been tossed around – making a MUGEN clone for shmups. It’s a nice idea, but man, just thinking about that makes my brain hurt. Just trying to work out a bullet pattern maker has been breaking my head. Maybe I’ll look into MultiMedia Fusion.

R-Type BlackBerry Theme
I just recently got a BlackBerry 8220 – the Pearl Flip. I absolutely love this phone. It feels like a phone, not a PDA, but has fun stuff like Google Maps and Gmail on it.

R-Type Theme External Screen
Now, Plazmic makes a suite for creating your own theme, so I decided to give it a shot. I bring you the R-Type BlackBerry Theme! The battery meter and wireless strength have been changed to the Beam and Signal meters, the “waiting” animation has been changed, and has a “Today” screen as well. I’ve even skinned the external screen – it works best with the LCD Digital display. As an added bonus, here’s a few R-Type Ringtones to add to any phone that can take MIDI files.
I plan on making more BlackBerry themes – they’re quite fun to make!

Varia Metal
Varia Metal is a vertical, 2-player simultaneous shmup. You control one of two characters, Grey (p1) or Atuja (p2). Each ship has two weapons, a charge shot, and options/bombs (more on this in a bit). By pressing the Form Change button, the ship morphs into its alternate form, which lets it use the other weapon. Each form has a different charge shot, and the options/bombs behave differently. Every so often, a helper ship will approach from the rear, carrying an orb. Shoot the helper to make it drop the orb, which will upgrade your ship, or give you an option if you’re at full power.

Sprites love the Scene Generators!
So yea. I’ve finally gotten around to getting this site designed. I’m using the lovely Greenery theme, edited to my tastes and needs. I’m planning on doing reviews of older Shmups – starting with the ones in MAME.
As well, you can play with the Scene Generators listed off to the side there. They’re still a work in progress, but they do work quite well. I’m still adding sprites, but feel free to fool around with ‘em.
